Parents are angry!
21/10/2025

National Parents Council (NPCpp) Second Level to-day calls on all parents to protest and lobby their local representatives, T.Ds & Senators because of the drastic cuts in education spending.
It is imperative that all parents express their horror at the restrictions placed on schools in relation to:

* staffing curtailments
* class size
* Grant losses for important courses (Transition Year, Leaving Cert. Applied, Junior Certificate Schools Programme, LCVP, etc.)
* Grant losses for school books and library books
* The restriction on the implementation of the EPSEN Act

The increase in transport costs for students is totally unacceptable.
Parents are being further penalised by the increase of Third Level Registration Fees from 900 to 1500.
Many of our children will be unable to go to college in September 2009 because of this. Their aspirations for Third Level placement is further affected by the cut and abolition of the Childrens Allowance for 18 year olds.

NPCpp deplores the actions taken by the Minister, Mr. Batt OKeeffe TD.
